Hilltoppers to Play Three Exhibitions in Costa Rica Next Week

8/3/2017 1:13:00 PM | Men's Basketball

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Three games against international competition await the WKU Hilltopper Basketball team next week on its foreign tour trip to Costa Rica.

The Hilltoppers will play three preseason exhibitions from Aug. 8-10 in San Jose, Costa Rica, in preparation for the 2017-18 season.

All games will be played at the Ciudad Deportiva arena.

WKU will first face Laurentian University from Ontario, Canada, at 6 p.m. CT Aug. 8. The Hilltoppers will then take on the Costa Rica National Team at 9 p.m. CT Aug. 9, and wrap up the trip with another contest against Laurentian at 5 p.m. CT Aug. 10.

After finishing competition, WKU will head to the Los Suenos area for the rest of its stay to experience the local culture, including excursions and other team activities.

Per NCAA rules, programs are allowed to take a foreign tour once every four years, although this is the first such trip for WKU since the Hilltoppers traveled to Spain prior to the 2005-06 season.

NCAA rules allow WKU the opportunity to conduct 10 practices in Bowling Green prior to leaving for the tour. The Hilltoppers started those practices in late July.

Updates from the trip will be posted across WKU's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube channels, and full coverage will be available here: http://goto.ps/TopsInCostaRica
