In this article, we break down the nitty-gritty details of payments through INFLCR and associated processing fees.
INFLCR uses Stripe to facilitate transactions. There are two payout methods currently available to businesses now. Credit and debit card transactions and ACH transactions. ACH stands for Automated Clearing House and is a payout method most often associated with direct bank payments.
In general, if you send smaller transactions and want payments to get to the student-athletes bank account fast, we recommend using a debit or credit card. However, if you’re looking to send large transactions and speedy delivery is not the main priority, you could consider using ACH.
So let's do a quick compare and contrast for a $500 transaction.
Fee Type | Credit or Debit Card | Credit or Debit Card TransactionFlow | ACH | ACH Transaction Flow | Who Takes this Fee? |
Transaction Value |
| $500 |
| $500 |
|
Stripe Fixed Fee | $0.25 | $500.25 | $0.25 | $500.25 | Stripe |
Stripe Percentage Fee | 0.25% | $501.51 | 0.25% | $501.51 | Stripe |
Card Processing Fixed Fee | $0.30 | $501.81 | $0 | $501.51 | Card Processor (VISA, Mastercard, etc) |
Card Processing Percentage Fee | 2.9% | $516.36 | 0.8% ($5 cap) | $505.51 | Card Processor (VISA, Mastercard, etc) |
Total Final Charge |
| $516.36 |
| $505.51 |
|
If you do a $500 transaction with a credit/debit card, you will pay $516.36. If you choose to do the same transaction with ACH, you will pay $505.51.
However, ACH does have a few drawbacks you should be aware of.
You must verify your bank account once before you can use ACH. Verifying can take up to 2 business days.
Payments can take up to 7 business days to transfer. However, businesses will be able to see the payment reflected on their bank statement 1-2 days after issuing the payment.
Payout charges on the student-athlete side can take up to 3 business days to fully transfer to their bank.
Now it's up to you which payout method you want to use. We recommend that for all transactions above $162, use ACH. You save a bit more money.
INFLCR does not take any fees for transactions. We are continuously trying to make INFLCR the one-stop-shop for all things NIL and adding ACH is a small part of making your life just a tad bit easier.
